WSDOT Soil Drilling to close lanes at night on SR 28 (Sunset HWY) in East Wenatchee.  Starting March 31, travelers on State Route 28 Sunset Highway should plan for single-lane and shoulder closures at multiple locations between Ninth Street and Hadley Street in East Wenatchee through early May.

The closures will allow a geotechnical crew to drill and take soil samples on the highway as part of the design work for the SR 28 East Wenatchee Corridor project, scheduled for 2028.

From March 31 to May 5, travelers can expect intermittent shoulder closures on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Between April 7-April 28, travelers can expect single-lane closures with flagger-controlled traffic from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. on weeknights.

Property owners and homeowners in the area have been notified of the possibility of nocturnal noises due to the drilling.

Updates on traffic control will be posted on the WSDOT real-time travel map.
