Road Closure Alert: Upcoming Sewer Installation Work – Begins May 27, 2025
The next phase of construction for 8th Street NE will begin at 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. KRCI Construction and TBMM LLC, on behalf of the Douglas County Sewer District, will close the same section of roadway from North Lyle Ave to North Nile Ave to install new sewer piping with associated appurtenances and other underground utilities. This work supports the development of a new sewer lift station.
The road is expected to reopen by 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2025. Upon reopening, temporary gravel surfaces and appropriate warning signage will remain in place until paving is completed.
Paving for all phases is scheduled for July 1, 2025, pending the completion of all prerequisite work. The same road closure and detour route will be reinstated for several days during this time to accommodate paving and striping activities.
Portable Changeable Message Signs (PCMS) will be in place throughout the project to provide real-time updates on the closure status.
