Road construction for the McNeil Road realignment project to begin Monday, June 2, 2025.
The McNeil Canyon Road realignment project is scheduled to begin on Monday, June 2, 2025, with substantial completion expected by November 2025. This $4,200,000 project is jointly funded by Douglas County and CRAB (County Road Administration Board) through its Rural Arterial Program (RAP).
The project will re-route a section of McNeil Canyon Road north of its existing alignment to improve safety and efficiency. Key improvements include:
Redesigned road geometry to increase sight distance
Construction of 11-foot travel lanes with 4-foot shoulders
Installation of guardrails where appropriate
Elimination of hazardous curves
Reduced road grade to 9.4%
Compliance with AASHTO standards for a 50-mph paved rural roadway
These upgrades will correct substandard vertical and horizontal alignments, resulting in a safer, more reliable route for drivers.
During construction, traffic will be reduced to one alternating lane. Please plan for extra travel time and use caution when traveling through the work zone. We appreciate your patience as we work to improve transportation infrastructure in Douglas County.
Scarsella Bros, Inc. is the project contractor.
