Douglas and Chelan County Commissioners welcomed leaders from across Washington for the Washington State Association of Counties (WSAC) Summer Regional Meeting.
This week, Douglas and Chelan County Commissioners welcomed leaders from across Washington for the Washington State Association of Counties (WSAC) Summer Regional Meeting.
In addition to Chelan and Douglas County Commissioners, Commissioners from Lincoln, Cowlitz, Klickitat, Skamania, Snohomish, Whatcom, and Mason Counties attended.
The event provided an opportunity to network and collaborate with peers from across the state.
The day included tours highlighting major projects and future opportunities for the region. Link Transit provided transportation for visits to the planned Microsoft Data Centers and Helion facility in Malaga, Douglas County PUD’s hydrogen fuel station, the Trades District, and the General Aviation Terminal—both projects of the Chelan Douglas Regional Port Authority.
Commissioners attended a presentation on the Wenatchi Landing project, a Douglas County vision, that emphasized its potential for positive economic impact, including job creation, improved traffic safety, and increased local retail activity for Douglas County and the surrounding region.
Douglas County Commissioner Dan Sutton, Vice Chair, District 1, spoke about the broad support the Wenatchi Landing project has received, noting, “We are grateful to have this kind of interest and support from our Senators, Representatives, cities, municipalities, and junior taxing districts.”
The meeting concluded with a visit to the Wenatchi Landing site.
