Construction on the 19th Street and NW Cascade Ave project resumed on Monday, March 3, 2025. Contractors will work along the shoulders of 19th Street NW, which includes constructing retaining walls and relocating utilities. Impacts to traffic will include single-lane closure (with detour) and one-way traffic patterns through the project site, and will likely remain in place for the duration of the project, which is anticipated to continue until the end of June.

This road improvement project, led by the City of East Wenatchee, started last August and involves widening the roadways, installing bicycle lanes and sidewalks, and creating a new stormwater facility. Traffic impacts

Construction activities associated with the 19^th Street and NW Cascade Ave project for the week of April 7^th through April 11^th are anticipated as follows:

Daytime impacts to traffic may include:

• Single-lane closure (with detour) and one-way traffic patterns through the project site on Monday (April 7^th) and also tentatively on Thursday-Friday (April 10^th and 11^th). 

Nighttime work is anticipated to occur between 7-pm and 7-am on the evenings of Monday April 7^th through Thursday April 10^th. This work will include lane closures with detour. Detour route associated with nighttime work may vary depending on highway lane closures

Construction activities associated with the 19^th Street and NW Cascade Ave project for the week of April 7^th through April 11^th are anticipated as follows:

• Watermain crossing of Sunset Highway (SR28) at the 19^th Street intersection (nighttime work),
• Watermain installation along 19^th Street NW between NW Bates Ave and Sunset Highway / SR28 (tentative daytime work). 

Please note:   Due to the nature of the utility installation work occurring next week, increased delays to traffic of up to 20-minutes may occur between NW Bates Ave and Sunset Highway (SR28) when work is occurring in that area.  

Douglas County 19th Street Campus & Trailhead

The Douglas County Law & Justice Building, Public Services Building, and 19th Street NW Trailhead Access will remain open during road construction. Apple Capital Loop Trail users are encouraged to use the 27^th Street NW Trailhead or 32^nd Place Trailhead to avoid the construction area during this time.
