Construction on the 19th Street and NW Cascade Ave project resumed on Monday, March 3, 2025. Contractors will work along the shoulders of 19th Street NW, which includes constructing retaining walls and relocating utilities. Impacts to traffic will include single-lane closure (with detour) and one-way traffic patterns through the project site, and will likely remain in place for the duration of the project, which is anticipated to continue until the end of June.

This road improvement project, led by the City of East Wenatchee, started last August and involves widening the roadways, installing bicycle lanes and sidewalks, and creating a new stormwater facility. Traffic impacts

Construction activities associated with the 19^th Street and NW Cascade Ave project for the week of May 12^th through May 16^th are anticipated as follows: 

• Roadway excavation / subgrade preparation along the project alignment,
• Placement of crushed surfacing material along the project alignment,
• Utility work.

Impacts to traffic may include: 

• Flagger-controlled alternating 1-way traffic patterns through the project site, 
• Single-lane closure (with detour) and one-way traffic patterns when work-zone is in the vicinity of 19^th / Sunset intersection,
• Road closure (local access only) on 19^th Street NE between Sunset Highway (SR28) and N Baker Ave,

Notice: Placement of concrete curb and gutter is tentatively planned for the week of May 19^th.  The contractor will be coordinating with individual property owners regarding sequencing/timing of work that may temporarily impact access. 

Douglas County 19th Street Campus & Trailhead

The Douglas County Law & Justice Building, Public Services Building, and 19th Street NW Trailhead Access will remain open during road construction. Apple Capital Loop Trail users are encouraged to use the 27^th Street NW Trailhead or 32^nd Place Trailhead to avoid the construction area during this time.
