Civil Division

In the State of Washington, the Sheriff's Office is mandated by statute to perform process service. In the majority of instances, only the office of the Sheriff may perform civil process duties.

Responsibilities

The Civil Division is managed by Chief Civil Deputy Brycen Greenwood. We serve legal documents throughout the county, perform evictions, sheriff sales of real and personal property, and enforce the orders of the court. The Civil Division is also responsible for carrying out Writs of Execution, Attachment, Restitution, Replevin, and Habeas Corpus. These duties often include levying on real and personal property wherein a Sheriff's Sale often ensues. Orders must be reviewed for legal sufficiency to limit the liability of the Sheriff and his deputies.

Payments

The fee schedule is set by County Ordinance. Visit the Online Payment Service to make payments.
