Douglas County Drop-Off Recycling Locations

Temporary Suspension: Fluorescent & Mercury-Containing Lightbulbs

As of January 1, 2026, Douglas County recycling locations are currently unable to accept fluorescent tubes and other mercury-containing lightbulbs due to a transition in the statewide LightRecycle Washington program.

The Washington State Department of Ecology is working with manufacturers to identify a new program administrator. The program is not ending, but collection sites across Washington are experiencing temporary disruptions until a new administrator is in place. (Read more here)

What this means for residents:

  • Please hold onto fluorescent bulbs and tubes
  • Do not place them in the trash
  • Collection will resume once the program stabilizes

We appreciate your patience as this transition is underway. Updates will be shared as soon as they become available.

Thank you for helping protect public health and the environment.
