[ARCHIVED] Douglas County Now Accepting Applications for Lodging Tax Advisory Committee

Mountains, hillside, and sky with application notice

Now accepting applications for Douglas County’s Lodging Tax Advisory Committee.

Douglas County is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the newly established Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC).

The lodging tax is not a new tax. It is an existing, state-authorized excise tax that Douglas County established locally in 2023. The County is now seeking qualified applicants to serve on the Committee, which will provide recommendations on the use and distribution of lodging tax revenues to support tourism, visitor-related activities, events, and economic development that benefit communities within unincorporated Douglas County.

In accordance with RCW 67.28.1817, the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee shall consist of at least five members, including:

  • At least two members who are representatives of businesses required to collect lodging tax;
  • At least two members who are involved in activities authorized to be funded by lodging tax revenues; and
  • One member who serves as Douglas County Commissioner and Chair of the Committee.

Members representing lodging tax–collecting businesses and members representing organizations eligible to receive lodging tax funding must always remain in equal proportion, regardless of the total size of the Committee.

Douglas County is seeking applicants who represent qualifying businesses or organizations located in unincorporated Douglas County and who are interested in contributing to the future of tourism and visitor-related activities.

Eligible applicants include:

  • Licensed lodging establishments in good standing, including hotels, motels, lodges, short-term rentals, and campgrounds; and
  • Nonprofits, agencies, or organizations that may qualify for lodging tax funding under state law.

Members of the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee serve in a voluntary role. Appointments will be made by the Douglas County Board of County Commissioners.

Interested individuals are encouraged to apply and to share this opportunity with others who may be qualified. Serving on the LTAC provides an important opportunity to support thoughtful investment in economic development, tourism, and visitor services throughout Douglas County.
